What you are paying for is not lowest-cost email delivery. You are paying for a creator-friendly product, clean automations, forms, landing pages, and an interface built around audiences, sequences, and monetization. Compared with MailerLite or Moosend, ConvertKit often loses on raw price. Compared with heavier all-in-one tools, it can still feel efficient if your business is built around content and audience trust.

The gotcha is that the free tier can create misleading expectations. A creator may grow comfortably on the free plan, then hit a sharp cost jump once they need paid newsletters, advanced automations, or more serious monetization features. At larger list sizes, ConvertKit can become meaningfully more expensive than tools with similar core sending capability.
