Best Klaviyo Alternatives for Ecommerce in 2026
Most brands do not leave Klaviyo because the product is bad. They leave because the invoice grew faster than the store did. Since February 2025, Klaviyo has billed on total active profiles, every non-suppressed contact sitting in your database, whether you emailed them last month or not. A store with 40,000 profiles and a 6,000-person engaged segment pays for all 40,000.
The bill also moves in one direction on its own. Klaviyo auto-upgrades your billing tier when the list grows, but it does not auto-downgrade when you clean it. You suppress 12,000 dead contacts and nothing happens until you go into billing and change the tier yourself.
That structural detail is what pushes ecommerce teams to look elsewhere: usually somewhere between 10,000 and 50,000 contacts, where the monthly number starts competing with a part-time hire. This guide covers the alternatives worth a serious look, what each one actually gives up compared to Klaviyo, and who should stay put.
What You Actually Give Up by Leaving
Klaviyo earned its position in ecommerce for reasons that do not disappear when you switch. Be honest about the tradeoff before you migrate.
Data depth. Klaviyo ingests Shopify events at a granularity most competitors do not match: viewed product, started checkout, refund, subscription lifecycle, predicted next order date. Segments built on that data drive the flows that make the platform pay for itself.
Flow attribution. Revenue-per-recipient reporting on every flow and campaign, out of the box, without wiring up a separate analytics layer. Several alternatives below report opens and clicks well and revenue poorly.
The integration surface. More than 350 apps in Klaviyo’s marketplace, plus deep native support for Shopify, BigCommerce, WooCommerce, and Magento.
If your store runs on abandoned-browse flows segmented by predicted lifetime value, no tool on this list is a drop-in replacement. If you run a welcome series, an abandoned cart, a post-purchase sequence, and weekly campaigns (which describes most stores under $5M), you can move and barely notice.
The Consolidation Nobody Mentioned
The ecommerce email market has been quietly consolidating around the same complaint. In February 2026, Privy acquired Sendlane from Five Elms Capital, following its earlier acquisition of Emotive, and pitched the combined platform explicitly at brands who found email and SMS had become too complex to run without a specialist. Privy says it now serves more than 6,000 ecommerce brands.
The strategic read matters more than the deal itself: vendors are betting that a meaningful share of Klaviyo’s mid-market is willing to trade capability for simplicity and human support. Whether that bet pays off is unproven, and Privy’s stack is narrower than Klaviyo’s on segmentation and reporting. You can read the reasoning in Privy’s own acquisition announcement.
Omnisend — The Closest Like-for-Like Swap
Omnisend is the alternative most ecommerce teams land on, because it was built for the same job: Shopify-native email and SMS, prebuilt automation flows for cart abandonment and post-purchase, product pickers that pull live catalog data into the email.
The billing model is the main draw. Omnisend bills on billable contacts (subscribers plus contacts who received an automated message) so unsubscribed contacts do not stay on the invoice the way Klaviyo profiles do. As of mid-2026, Standard starts around $16/month for 500 contacts and roughly $132/month at 10,000. Pro starts around $59/month with unlimited email sends.
Where it falls short: segmentation is shallower than Klaviyo’s. You can segment on order history, spend, and engagement, but not on the predictive attributes Klaviyo generates. The template editor is more rigid, and brands with strong design standards often find themselves fighting it. Reporting covers revenue attribution but with fewer breakdowns.
There is also a moving part worth checking before you commit. Omnisend changed its SMS packaging in May 2026, and sources disagree on whether new Standard-plan signups can still buy SMS credits or now need Pro. If SMS is central to your plan, confirm on Omnisend’s pricing page before migrating rather than after.

Drip — Best for Behavioral Automation Without the Profile Tax
Drip is the alternative for brands that left Klaviyo for cost reasons but refuse to lose automation depth. Its visual workflow builder handles branching, delays, and event triggers at a level that genuinely competes, and Shopify revenue attribution is built in rather than bolted on.
Pricing is a single plan that scales with contacts, with every feature included at every tier, no capability gated behind an upgrade. Independent sources through mid-2026 put it at $39/month for 2,500 contacts, $89/month at 5,000, and $154/month at 10,000.
Where it falls short: there is no free plan, only a 14-day trial capped at 100 email sends, so evaluating it properly means committing. Workflows are capped at 50 across all plans, generous for most stores, a real ceiling for agencies running many brands from one account. The entry tier starts at 2,500 contacts, which makes Drip poor value for a store with an 800-person list. Template design is functional and dated.

Brevo — Best When Your List Is Big and Your Sends Are Not
Brevo inverts the pricing model that drove you out of Klaviyo. You pay for emails sent, not contacts stored. For a store sitting on 60,000 lifetime customers that mails the full list twice a month, that difference is not marginal. It is the whole decision.
The free tier holds up to 100,000 contacts with a 300-emails-per-day cap, which is enough to run a real business at low send volume. Paid plans start at $9/month. Brevo also bundles SMS, WhatsApp, a transactional email API, and a basic CRM, so a small team can consolidate several subscriptions.
Brevo (Sendinblue)
The most approachable CRM suite
Brevo (formerly Sendinblue) stands out with its unique pricing model based on email volume rather than subscriber count. This makes it particularly attractive for businesses with...
Where it falls short: ecommerce depth. Brevo’s Shopify integration handles the basics (order data, abandoned cart) but does not approach Klaviyo’s event coverage. The automation builder gets awkward once a flow has more than a few branches. Deliverability on shared IPs has drawn more complaints than the alternatives above.
One caution on pricing specifics: Brevo’s mid-volume Starter tiers were being reported inconsistently across sources in July 2026, and its “unlimited contacts” claim appears to apply only above the 20,000-emails-per-month tier. Price your actual send volume on Brevo’s own pricing page (linked in the sources below) before you build a business case on a number from a review site.
MailerLite — Best for Small Stores That Overbought
Plenty of stores are on Klaviyo because an agency set it up, not because they need it. If you have fewer than 5,000 contacts, send two campaigns a month, and run three automations, you are paying for a data platform to do a newsletter’s job.
MailerLite handles that job for less. As of its June 2026 repricing, the Comfort plan starts at $12/month for 500 subscribers, and the free tier covers 250 subscribers and 2,500 emails per month. The editor is the cleanest in this comparison, and landing pages and forms are included.
Where it falls short: it is not an ecommerce platform. The Shopify integration syncs customers and supports basic abandoned-cart automation, and that is roughly where it stops. There is no product-level behavioral segmentation and no revenue attribution worth the name. Note also that MailerLite raised paid prices 10–30% and cut the free tier in June 2026, so older reviews quoting $10/month are stale. Check MailerLite’s pricing page for the current figures.

ActiveCampaign — Best If Ecommerce Is Only Half the Story
ActiveCampaign suits brands whose email program is not purely transactional: a store with a wholesale arm, a coaching product, or a sales team working leads alongside the DTC catalog. Its automation builder and CRM are stronger than anything else on this list, and conditional logic handles cases that would need custom work in Omnisend.
Pricing starts at $15/month (billed annually) for 1,000 contacts on the Starter plan.
ActiveCampaign
Marketing automation that drives growth
ActiveCampaign is widely regarded as having the best marketing automation capabilities in the email marketing space. It combines email marketing with a built-in CRM, making it...
Where it falls short: cost climbs steeply with list size. The Starter plan at 10,000 contacts runs several times its entry price, and it caps out at 10,000 contacts entirely, forcing an upgrade to Plus or higher. Useful pieces are sold separately: custom reporting, SMS, and extra users are all add-ons. The interface is dense enough that most teams need a week before they are productive, and ecommerce-specific templates are weaker than the ecommerce-native tools above.
How to Choose
Work through it in this order.
Clean your list first. Suppress or archive unengaged contacts, then manually drop your Klaviyo billing tier. If that fixes the invoice, stop here: migration costs weeks of flow rebuilding.
Count your flows. If you run five or fewer automations built on order and engagement data, almost any tool here will carry them. If you run twenty flows keyed on browse behavior and predictive attributes, Drip is the only credible move.
Price your real shape. Large list, low send frequency favors Brevo. Small list, moderate frequency favors MailerLite. Steady list, high frequency, deep Shopify use favors Omnisend.
Budget the migration, not just the subscription. Rebuilding flows, re-verifying your sending domain, and warming the new platform typically costs three to six weeks of degraded performance. A tool that saves $80/month has to run for a long time to repay that.
Who Should Stay on Klaviyo
If you are above roughly $5M in revenue, run predictive segments, use the SMS and email data in a single flow, and have someone in-house who knows the platform, Klaviyo remains the strongest ecommerce email product available. The billing model is annoying rather than disqualifying at that scale, since the revenue per profile justifies the cost per profile.
The brands who should leave are the ones paying enterprise rates for newsletter usage. Check your revenue-per-recipient over the last 90 days. If flows are not clearing what you pay each month, the problem may be the program rather than the platform, and switching tools will not fix a weak welcome series.
